Those of you with the background, skip to the next section to skip over the explanation for the young’uns. And thus, you either know what we’re doing, or you’re worried I’ve started speaking in tongues. Look, I’m not going to play coy, you read the title card. And while you COULD explore all of those interesting descriptors, you can also just click this link, get the recipe, and get brewing for yourself. Today’s cocktail is a surprisingly simple, somewhat nostalgic, seasonally appropriate, and legally non-actionable riff on a drink from Jon’s childhood. A process he USED to do without a special name, but branding is the Master Sword of internet marketing, so here we are.

Use sparingly, just enough to bring it to life although without it it's still good. Why hello there, and welcome back to Kitchen Catastrophe’s series, Catastrophic Cocktails, where, in order to buy himself time and write off his copious alcohol purchases as business expenses, Jon O’Guin explores the world of drinks. I wanted to make the mix more realistic to step away from the soda taste and I feel that this does it well, the addition of sour heightens the orange and brings it back to the front almost a candy effect without making it sickly. I added a touch even as 1-2 drops per 10ml it makes it noticeable and changes the mix to a slightly chilled taste. I love this flavouring I can say it does change the recipe from dry and flavoursome to juicy and tastier you can't pick it out it helps blend the fruit and makes the mix mouth watering. I was hoping this would give it a fizzy type mouth feel, it doesn't at this % but it does help change the orange flavour a touch to make it more genuine almost like Fanta or tango. (Ecto cooler) I used to have this as a stand alone, it's a great tasting flavour but uses a hell of a lot, it's supposed to be reminiscent of an old school juice box from the mid - late 80's although I can barely remember that. I hope you will give it a go and leave any and all feedback.Īmetrine is a fresh orange juice type flavour with a couple of ice cubes. I've spent nearly 2 months working on it trying different fruits for accents and different levels of sweetener to get it down as low as possible without losing that sweetness we all associate with commercial juice. In closing I feel I've remixed this quite nicely. I believe I used far less than they prob do but got the same effect by accentuating the Orange with the strawberries and ecto cooler. Super sweet: I'm remixing a commercial juice that's known to have loads of sweetener. I love these in tandem and they are just the supporting note I needed to give it a fruity inhale.

I wanted something to add to the fruitiness without taking over the Orange and add a bit of juicy flavor to the mix and these strawberries do just that. Shisha Strawberry and red touch: here's where the remix part comes in. It adds to the sweetness and helps add punch to the juicy orange. I wanted a juicy sweet Orange with a hint of authenticity and caps juicy Orange is just that.Įcto cooler type: this hi c inspired flavor works so well with Orange that it was a natural selection in my thought process. So I wondered, could I could improve on something I enjoy so much? I really enjoy it but I leave the verdict up to you!Ĭaps juicy Orange: I started with the Orange of course. I love elements fresh squeeze, especially during these summer months.
